Going Gray

This one is called, ”Going Gray”.

Given the term, it at first indicates that the aging process most associated with hair, is what’s at play here. While that’s partially true, that is not the message I mean to convey. A Shakespeare quote I have on my refrigerator states, “With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come.” Well ok then.

My first year in my 40s has brought a plethora of transformation. As some who have already been where I’m at, you may still consider me young and inexperienced. As some younger than me, maybe you can’t relate just yet. Drawing attention to being very much in the middle of two age demographics, I think it’s safe to say I’ve somewhat entered into the stage considered “middle-aged”.

I’ve come to a point in my life where I can very graciously look back and feel I’ve lived a little. So, I’d like to look forward from here and say to you all, my peers and loved ones, “HELLO!” Here we are! We’ve made it through some hard, trying and weird-ish wild times together, haven’t we?! We’ve grown apart from some and drawn in closer to others. Learned more about ourselves, and the direction we want to go from here.

Are we the same people we were 2, 3, or 20 years ago? Most certainly not. But are we still the same? Absolutely.

If you have made it with me this far, God bless you for sticking around. If you’ve just met me, you’ll watch me transform a million times, just like the butterfly on this painting, yet still be the same ole country girl I always was. If we haven’t met, I look forward to connecting with you soon.

When you see me again, you may notice I’m “Going Gray.” Each new strand seems to be more curly than the next!! It’s taking on a mind of it’s own, and I intend to finally let it, after all these years. Laugh with me, and let’s see what the next 40 years has to bring. Trust the process. We are all becoming.

“Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬
